Many people think they know about Mushrooms because of one or two basic varieties in their salads and a few other recipes.

One of the most famous of all Medicinal Mushrooms, Reishi, Ling Zhi or Ganoderma Lucidium, has a woody, almost bitter taste and is the most famous of all the Medicinal Mushrooms. Reishi has also been used in Traditional Chinese medicine to treat allergies, asthma, inflammation and arthritis.

Shiitake Mushroom

Shiitake Mushroom (Lentinula edodes) is an edible medicinal mushroom, rich in B vitamins and Vitamin D. Shiitake contains high amounts of immune-boosting Polysaccharides, and one of them, lentinan, has actually been used in Japan for the treatment of certain immune disorders.

Also called "The Black Forest Mushroom", Shiitake grows in the wild on dead or dying trees, but is now one of the most cultivated mushrooms in the world. 

Shiitake has been found to have anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties and has been studied on its ability to lower cholesterol, promote the healthy functioning of the liver and increase t-cell count.

Cordyceps Mushroom

Cordyceps Mushroom, is a Medicinal Mushroom found primarily high up in the mountains of Tibet and parts of Asia, and has been used in Chinese Medicine for hundreds of years. 

Cordyceps is seen as an extremely powerful anti-ageing Mushroom, and is often prescribed to the elderly, and to those recovering from long illnesses.

Turkey Tail Mushrooms grow abundantly around the world, especially on dead longs and has a beautiful appearance (reminiscent of the tail of a turkey)

Turkey Tail Mushroom is often used as an adjunct to certain treatments, by reducing their side effects and enhancing the effectiveness.

Maitake Mushroom

Known in Japan as “The Hen Of The Woods”, or “Grifola Frondosa” Maitake Mushroom is edible gourmet mushroom prized for its ability to balance blood sugar and cholesterol levels and strengthening the immune system.

Maitake Mushroom grows in clusters on the bottom of oak and dying hardwood trees throughout Japan, Europe, Asia and North America and is often added to cuisines due to its delicious flavour.

Lions Mane Mushroom

Tremella Mushroom
